I’ve come across this meme on a few different blogs, so I thought I’d put it up here and see how it goes…
It’s called Teaser Tuesday…
Teaser Tuesday is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.
- Grab your current read.
- Let the book fall open to a random page.
- Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page.
- You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
“I was never convinced that the Whitlam ministers could manage so many spectacular blunders by themselves. They needed help.” (83)
“Smoke and Mirrors“, Kel Robertson.

Love it! Here’s mine:
“‘Never mind, for now, about famine, flood, pestilence, and war: if God really cared for us, he would never have given us religion.’ But this loose syllogism is easily exploded, and all questions of theodicy simply disappear – if god is a Russian.”
Martin Amis – ‘House of Meetings’

aha! God is undoubtedly a Russian.
I’ve never read any Martin Amis but he’s so often quoted that I really must.

You’ve gotta.
His non-fiction is friggin’ awesome, but I’d start with his first novel – ‘The Rachael Papers’.
It’s brilliant. Just don’t start with ‘Dead Babies’: it’ll give you entirely the wrong idea about what he can do.

Thanks, when I’ve made a more sizable dent in my “to be read” pile I’ll get on it!
